Assault Rifles[]

In general Assault Rifles are decent all-around weapons effective at a variety of ranges. At short to mid-range the user can go full auto for decent damage output, and short bursts while crouching can be reasonably effective at long range. They will generally be outperformed by weapons dedicated to short (shotguns) or long (sniper rifles) range, but if you want one weapon to handle any situation decently these are a good choice.

Sub Machine Guns[]

Sub Machine Guns are only really effective at short to mid range, but they are very good at what they do. A common tactic with them is to get up close and "circle-strafe" a target, running around them while letting rip into their head.

Light Machine Guns[]

Decently high firing rate, massive clips and strong recoil all add to the "spray and pray" nature of Light Machine Guns. If you don't care about accuracy and just want to run and gun for long periods without reloading, listening to the repeating roar of a high caliber weapon letting rip, this is a good choice for you. Best at short to mid range. However, they get significantly better accuracy when Scoped and while crouching, as well as firing them in short bursts which can make them a surprisingly effective long-range endurant weapon.

Combat Shotguns[]

Also known as Auto Shotguns or Autoshotties, these have the lowest damage per shot (pellet) but the highest firing rate and mag of the shotgun types. These are more for a close range run-and-gun style of combat.

Pump Shotguns[]

These are the middle-of-the-road shotguns in damage, firing rate and mag size. Useful for a variety of tactics at close range. Note that these are reloaded one round at a time and the shown Reload time is per round, so multiply the Reload by the Mag quantity to get the total time for a full reload.

Sawed-Off Shotguns[]

These are the extreme close-range beasts of shotguns. They usually only have a two-round mag but each round does incredible damage if most of the pellets hit the target, so you usually want to be right up in the face of the enemy when you fire it. Because these get all of their impressive damage out per mag very fast before having to reload they are very good at an in-and-out guerrilla tactics style of combat; pop out of cover, quickly let rip, duck back behind cover and reload. If you can manage to find or upgrade one with an increased magazine size, countering their one key weakness, these are not only far more lethal but the listed Reload time is for the entire magazine no matter its size; they will be able to surpass the full reload time of Pump Shotguns in this situation.

Bolt Action Sniper Rifles[]

The traditional sniper rifle with scope, meant for extreme range combat. This weapon type is among the most difficult to use effectively because of a number of factors; compared to other weapons aiming at the body with them doesn't put out as much DPS as almost anything else and unscoped hip-shots are painfully inaccurate, plus every shot takes you out of scope view if you were using it so you'll have to re-aim each time. Each shot you miss is a severe hit to your damage output, and they're also not good at fast close-range enemies. However, they also have the highest natural Crit Multiplier of any weapon type. If you are good at hitting (as well as finding for some enemy types) the crit spots on an enemy, these weapons become VERY lethal, among the only type that can one-hit kill a variety of enemies.

Semi-Auto Sniper Rifles[]

These variants of the sniper rifles have less damage per shot, larger mags and allow for multiple shots while staying within a scoped view. These may be better for people who aren't as good at consistently aiming at targets. Like the Bolt Action rifles you still need to focus on hitting the crit spots on enemies for these weapons to really shine.

Rocket Launchers[]

Rocket Launchers are long range AoE (Area of Effect) weapons, good for hitting a group of targets that are clustered tightly together. They are not good at putting heavy damage over time on one single tough target and are rather limited in ammo capacity so you should always have another weapon type handy.

Detonators[]

Detonators are also known as Grenade Launchers. They can lob a variety of different types of explosives a further distance than thrown grenades can reach, and several allow for manual detonation on demand. They are good for hitting enemies behind cover.
